According to a report by CoinWorld, earlier today, a dormant Bitcoin whale address was reactivated and transferred 5 Bitcoins to the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken. This marks their third BTC transfer in the past few weeks after a decade of silence. Data from Arkham indicates that the wallet received Bitcoins in the first few months of BTC’s existence, suggesting it was active between January and March 2009, as the network launched on January 3 of that year.
Between 2011 and 2014, this whale transferred its BTC reserves multiple times to exchanges and other addresses, after which they ceased transferring funds. Notably, the value of their assets surged from less than $500,000 in 2014 to approximately $80 million today. The whale reawakened three weeks ago, executing three separate transactions of 10 BTC each. According to Arkham’s portal, they still hold 1,215 BTC (valued at $77 million).

Arkham also noted another wallet that recently reemerged after 15 years of “complete silence.” Their stash was also received in the early months of Bitcoin, valued at $16 million (250 BTC). CryptoPotato reported in early August about another dormant wallet from the Satoshi era that earned 250 BTC in May 2010 and transferred the funds to five new wallets last month.
