CoinWorld reported:
In the party platform draft passed on Monday, the Republican Party put forward goals related to cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence. These plans include ending the current administration’s “cryptocurrency crackdown” and ensuring that Americans can conduct transactions without government surveillance.
The document stated: “Republicans will end the Democrats’ illegal and un-American crackdown on cryptocurrency and oppose the creation of a central bank digital currency.”
Previously, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) actively investigated numerous cryptocurrency companies in an era defined by cryptocurrency crackdown. In this party platform draft, Trump’s Republicans proposed the goal of ending this war.
Due to concerns about surveillance, many cryptocurrency advocates are against central bank digital currencies (CBDC) or “digital dollars.” Therefore, Republicans intend to ban the development of this technology, which will please a majority of the cryptocurrency community. Republicans also aim to protect the country’s Bitcoin mining rights.
The party platform continued: “We will defend the right to mine Bitcoin, ensure that every American has the right to self-custody their digital assets, and conduct transactions without government surveillance.”
Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Roger Marshall, both Republicans, are trying to protect self-custody wallets and oppose proposed bills.
Many cryptocurrency industry advocates believe that the party’s statement fully supports cryptocurrency, which is a key issue that could influence voters in the upcoming presidential election.
Kris Klaich, the policy director of cryptocurrency lobbying group Digital Chamber, told Decrypt: “I think [Republicans] see this as their winning issue and a wedge issue as well. Democrats, on the whole, have been more subdued [on cryptocurrency], if not negative.”
Republicans also hope to repeal Joe Biden’s executive order on artificial intelligence, which aims to introduce new security standards. The party claims that this is because it “hampers AI innovation and imposes radical left-wing ideology on development.”
By eliminating this, the party plans to “support” the development of artificial intelligence rooted in free speech and “human prosperity.”
