CoinDesk Report:
The cryptocurrency industry is a dynamic sector with exciting developments occurring daily. However, it frequently becomes a target for hackers and malicious actors seeking to exploit inexperienced users who struggle to secure their digital assets. This is particularly true for meme coins.
Among them, Shiba Inu (SHIB) stands out as one of the most popular meme coins, boasting a massive community. Recently, LUCIE, the project’s marketing manager, shared a warning from another Shibarium team member urging users to steer clear of a Telegram group called “ShibaSweepers.”

As reported by CryptoPotato, private key leaks have been identified as a primary cause of cryptocurrency thefts in the second quarter of 2024. According to a report from SlowMist, these incidents involve users storing their seed phrases on cloud solutions such as Tencent Docs, Baidu Cloud, Shimo Docs, and Google Docs.
Telegram vulnerabilities are also prevalent. Malicious actors lure victims into group chats, convincing them to click on links that ultimately lead to phishing websites or software that drains their wallets.
This underscores the importance of never clicking on unknown links. Storing cryptocurrencies in hardware wallets disconnected from the internet remains a superior solution.
