Coinworld report:
Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov has given strong support to Hamster Kombat, praising the crypto game that is taking over its dominant messaging platform as “the fastest-growing digital service in the world.”
Durov said in his Telegram channel on Thursday: “A new era is coming, and we are witnessing it in real time.” He described Hamster Kombat as the current leader of the “new wave” of mini-applications, which he believes will bring blockchain technology to the public.
Mini-applications like Hamster Kombat can be played by any of Telegram’s more than 9 billion users without leaving the messaging app. Many companies, including Hamster Kombat and its spiritual predecessor Notcoin, have integrated with The Open Network, the blockchain network chosen by Telegram, to offer encrypted rewards in the form of token airdrops to attract players.
Although Hamster Kombat has claimed to have a large and rapidly expanding user base for weeks, Durov confirmed these claims for the first time on Thursday, stating that the mini-app had achieved an astonishing 239 million registered users in just three months.
Durov further stated that on average, the game adds 4 to 5 million new players per day, which he estimates to be the fastest-growing digital service on Earth at present.
There is no doubt that Hamster Kombat is having a global impact. Last week, Iranian government officials condemned the popularity of the game in their country, seeing it as a “soft war” by the West to entice Iranians with dreams of “overnight wealth without labor” ahead of the presidential election.
The highly anticipated game airdrop is scheduled to land sometime this month. Hamster Kombat is the largest of the growing number of Telegram crypto games, with other notable games including Yescoin, TapSwap, Catizen, PixelTap, and W-Coin.
