Sydney Sweeneys X Targeted by Hackers Again to Promote SolanaBased Memecoin

Recently, bad actors infiltrated Sydney Sweeney’s X account to promote a meme coin based on Solana, called Sweeney.
On July 2nd, developers launched a Solana-based meme coin named SWEENEY, which quickly gained attention, accumulating over $10 million in trading volume within just two hours.
According to a post from Satoshi Club, posts from actress Sydney Sweeney’s X account significantly boosted the token’s rapid rise. She is renowned for her roles in “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus.”
One deleted post from her account read:
“About to livestream from space soon, stay tuned to see what $sweeney can do.”
The account also posted several updates promoting SWEENEY token as an official product associated with the actress. Hackers exploited Sweeney’s account to spread false information, including claims that she is the “Sun Queen,” referencing the Solana blockchain.
The incident also referenced Sachiel Arora, a controversial figure in the meme coin promotion community.
This isn’t Sweeney’s first hack, nor is it the hackers’
Previously, these hackers targeted accounts of celebrities like 50 Cent and Hulk Hogan, attributing their attack on Sweeney’s account to them, suggesting plans to target even more prominent figures in the future.

Additionally, this isn’t the first time Sweeney’s X account has been compromised. Earlier this year, her account was hijacked, unintentionally promoting an unknown cryptocurrency.
Hackers used a viral image of Sweeney smiling to promote an alternative Solana token called $MILK, which gained popularity after she appeared on the YouTube series “Popular Figures.” The compromised post garnered millions of views and thousands of likes.
Previous X hacks in 2024
The events involving Sweeney’s account are part of a broader trend of security vulnerabilities in the cryptocurrency space.
Earlier this year, unsuspecting investors lost over $440,000 due to a security flaw in the X account of popular Bitcoin company MicroStrategy. In February, hackers released a malicious website link claiming MicroStrategy was launching $MSTR token on the Ethereum blockchain.
They alleged the token was backed by MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin reserves, allowing users to claim tokens for free. Bad actors moved some of the loot to different addresses and held a balance of $200,000 at the time of the report.
