CoinWorld reports:
On Thursday, Nvidia announced that it will provide advanced artificial intelligence processors to an Indian company, including Reliance Industries owned by Mukesh Ambani. This announcement reflects Nvidia’s goal of expanding the artificial intelligence industry in India.
Currently, Reliance is building a 1-gigawatt data center in Gujarat to deploy the Nvidia Blackwell AI processor. This was confirmed by the CEO of the chip manufacturer at an AI summit held in Mumbai, where Ambani was present.
On the other hand, Nvidia also plans to deliver a large number of Hopper AI chips to major data centers. This specifically indicates that Yotta Data Services and Tata Communications are leading companies in this partnership.
The CEO of Nvidia stated, “India will become a country that exports artificial intelligence.”
Huang stated that India has the potential to become an exporter of artificial intelligence at an international level. He emphasized several reasons for his expectations, including the country’s large population, low-cost internet access, and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
He said, “India will become a country that exports artificial intelligence,” reflecting the transition of India from software outsourcing to AI production.
India has been focused on AI models to customize different languages present in the country’s diverse population. This preference exists among both startups and large companies.
Nvidia plans to collaborate with more IT companies such as Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, and Wipro.
Nvidia revealed that Tech Mahindra, an Indian company providing IT services, is the first company to use its Hindi language model, focusing on a customized system called Indus 2.0.
Indus 2.0 aims to assist Hindi and its various dialects. The goal of this model is to attract India’s massive consumer market by using AI applications for customer service and content translation.
Nvidia is going beyond Tech Mahindra and collaborating with more IT companies such as Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, and Wipro. This collaboration involves training 500,000 developers to create AI agents.
Furthermore, Reliance and Ola Electric are ready to use “Omniverse,” Nvidia’s simulation technology that can help test and optimize factory plans.
Currently, India does not have enough resources to manufacture semiconductors.
However, despite its goals centered around AI and semiconductors, India still faces challenges. China has invested a significant amount of money in the field of AI. The government has launched a $1.25 billion investment to support AI-centered startups and projects. Nevertheless, India is still in its infancy in terms of semiconductor manufacturing.
Chip manufacturing plants are a complex process that requires skilled labor and years of work. Additionally, India has not yet produced its domestically manufactured chips.
Huang stated that India currently only accounts for a small portion of Nvidia’s capital. Nonetheless, the company remains hopeful and will not overlook the potential of the region in AI and semiconductor development.
