Amazon announced on Monday a new version of its Echo Spot alarm clock, priced at $79. This redesigned alarm clock features improved sound quality. The company has added a display screen where users can check the time, weather, or watch the currently playing song. Amazon has also installed a better speaker in the device, which is said to provide clearer vocals and deeper bass. This marks the first upgrade to the Echo Spot since its initial launch by Amazon in 2017. The previous version, priced at $129, also had a round design, but with a full-size display screen and a camera. Amazon stated that members of its $139 per year Prime plan can purchase the new Echo Spot for $44.99 before July 17, during Amazon’s Prime Day sale. According to previous reports by CNBC, Amazon is updating the Echo Spot and is expected to perform a comprehensive overhaul of its voice assistant, Alexa. The company usually makes a series of announcements regarding its Echo and Alexa series during its autumn event held in September.
