CoinDesk reports:
Andrew Tate is now allowed to leave Romania while awaiting trial for charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group to exploit women. The controversial influencer has since announced a world tour for DADDY, a Solana token he has been promoting in recent weeks.
According to NBC News, a Bucharest court ruled that the former kickboxer, who was arrested alongside his brother Tristan in December 2022, can leave the country but must remain within the EU.
“I am free,” Tate wrote on Twitter. “For the first time in 3 years, I can leave Romania.”
Despite having to stay within the EU, Tate quickly began to envision a “global” tour to promote the DADDY meme coin. “I can freely travel the world. Daddy Tour,” he announced in a Twitter video, listing places he wants to visit, including “Tokyo, Dubai, and Miami.”
Tate did not immediately respond to Decrypt’s request for comment on the details of the DADDY world tour.
DADDY saw a brief uptick that day while the rest of the crypto market experienced losses, but the token endorsed by Tate has also dropped about 5% in the past 24 hours.
Last month, Tate began promoting the Solana meme coin DADDY in an attempt to flip Iggy Azalea’s token MOTHER. After completing his mission, the self-proclaimed misogynist proudly stated, “Patriarchy is back.”
On Thursday, the dual British-American citizen outlined the DADDY airdrop plan, which requires joining the influencer’s controversial “get-rich-quick cult.” After joining the revamped version of his infamous Hustler’s University, “The Real World,” users are encouraged to increase their “power level” to receive more DADDY tokens in the airdrop.
The Real World app was banned from Google and Apple’s mobile app stores in 2023. According to Vice, this occurred after activists complained that the app was a pyramid scheme leading teens to misogynistic ideologies.
“I want this crypto project to be fair,” Tate said in a live stream. “If you’re disappointed by the amount of the airdrop, you can only be disappointed in yourself. You could have increased your power level, but you weren’t working hard every day.”
While this may seem novel to Tate, it follows the same concept most airdrops adhere to—people often end up disappointed with their bags. Recently, many BLAST airdrop participants were disappointed with the value of their airdrop despite their efforts to hunt for the tokens.
With the announcement of this airdrop, the token promoted by Tate has performed well this week, climbing 67%. But for now, these are just ideas and promises. Tate’s global tour is currently “loading,” with no official airdrop date or further details announced.
While Tate awaits trial in Romania, free to travel within the EU, there is also a separate arrest warrant in the UK for charges of rape and sexual assault. Romanian authorities have agreed to extradite him only after his trial in the country concludes.
No trial date for Andrew Tate has been set.
