Summary:
Creating a model area for the innovative development and application scenarios of legal technology products.
“In serving key enterprises such as large game companies and regional TTOs (Technology Transfer Offices), we keenly feel the urgent demand of enterprises for intellectual property and trade secret protection.” At the “From Innovation to Empowerment: Building a Legal Technology Ecosystem Together” 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference Legal Technology Forum in Xuhui on July 5th, Gong An, a notary officer from Xuhui Notary Office, introduced a new notarization technology product, the “Xuhui Notary Office Intellectual Property and Trade Secret Protection Platform,” also known as “Hui Baoquan.”
Accompanying this specialized platform at the forum venue, Modo Space hosted presentations for “Huiye AI Cloud Vault” developed on Baidu Intelligent Cloud platform, AI digital humans by Mofa Technology, “PaperX” lawyer AI assistant, and Ping An Matrix blockchain multi-party dispute resolution platform, showcasing the latest achievements in combining law and technology to empower legal services. Xuhui’s integrated “industry-education-research-application” legal technology ecosystem was simultaneously launched, leveraging Xuhui’s leading advantages in large-scale industrial ecology to explore innovative cooperation models benefiting governments, research institutions, tech enterprises, and law firms.
AI Cloud Vault: “Responding with Precision”
In recent years, Xuhui District has leveraged its regional advantages in artificial intelligence and legal services “dual-industry clustering” to explore meeting specialized vertical needs in the legal field with large-scale models, developing a series of innovative legal technology products to provide precise and professional technological assistance to legal professionals.
Among them is the “Hui Baoquan” platform, characterized by its multi-scenario, high-fidelity, and user-friendly features. Gong An explained that the platform offers dual channels for mobile and web, providing functions such as electronic data certification, on-site evidence collection, online evidence collection, and remote online notarization, flexibly accommodating large-scale evidence storage needs. The platform also integrates technologies such as blockchain, electronic signatures, timestamps, location services, and self-service face identity verification, instantly assigning hash values to evidence for blockchain storage and ensuring verification at any time.
“The platform allows end-to-end self-service online operations by the certifiers, enabling one-click photo and screen recording evidence collection, automatic upload, and support for batch download integration, significantly reducing evidence collection costs by over 80% and increasing efficiency by more than 10 times,” Gong An explained. Post-certification, the platform promptly generates “Electronic Data Custody Certificates” and can issue both electronic data custody certificates and notarizations, providing practical and effective convenience to enterprises.
The “AI Cloud Vault” service launched by Huiye Law Firm can answer complex queries suitable for large-scale models, such as recommending lawyers skilled in investment and financing in Chengdu, discussing achievements in data compliance, or researching legal risks in electronic sports events, effectively enhancing internal communication efficiency within law firms.
Shi Yuhang, partner at Huiye Law Firm, explained, “AI Cloud Vault” employs the same model base as Baidu Wenxin’s one-word model, relying on Baidu’s self-developed flagship large-language model “ERNIE-4.0-8K” and establishing a dedicated corpus covering 52 different types of legal documents totaling over 940,000 characters. Apart from laws and informational materials, the corpus also includes conflict-of-interest management systems and activity approval systems, making the large-scale model more familiar with law firm operations.
The importance of corpus data is also reflected in “PaperX Lawyer AI Assistant” developed by Beijing Mingrui Botong Technology Co., Ltd. The company’s marketing director Yan Wen stated that 90% of PaperX’s data comes from internal law firm sources, with the remaining 10% from public data. “This data structure allows the large-scale model to better align with actual law firm work scenarios and reflect real legal issues.”
3D Virtual Human “Accessible to All”
New technologies and concepts like blockchain and digital humans are extensively used in legal services. Guo Jun, director of the Operation Center of Guoxin CertChain (East China), introduced the newly released “Ping An Matrix Blockchain Multi-party Dispute Resolution Platform,” based on national information center-converged vector government and enterprise data, utilizing 20,000 hours of learning time and over 100,000 mediation case data points to develop artificial intelligence and big data model learning capabilities, providing intelligently generated mediation documents and agreements, synchronously achieving blockchain technology-based evidence deposition, truly achieving end-to-end data deposition and process tracing.
PaperX also creates a digital human called “AI Knowledge Administrator” in its applications. Yan Wen explained that this AI role continuously automates knowledge construction and supplementation through semi-supervised autonomous learning, expanding the contents of the original knowledge base tenfold.
“Combining 3D modeling and GPT-3 technology, we have created globally leading 3D photorealistic virtual digital humans.” Ji Pei, Commercial and Innovation Business Director at Mofa Technology, showcased the company’s AI digital human matrix at the roadshow, including “Mofa Yoyan” GPT-3-based 3D video creation platform, “Mofa Youguang” 3D virtual human live broadcast GPT-3 platform, and “Mofa Youling” 3D virtual human service GPT-3 platform, three consumer-grade products that are accessible to everyone.
The young enterprise, founded in 2018, has now mastered 3D virtual human technology with a precision level of up to one million faces, approaching the visible limits discernible to the human eye. Based on self-developed top-tier technologies in actions, expressions, sounds, bindings, and driving, Mofa Technology’s 3D virtual digital humans offer real-time interactive responses shortened to one second. Leveraging these globally leading technological advantages, the enterprise recently developed a 3D virtual human interactive anti-fraud system and created an GPT-3-based anti-fraud propaganda column, enabling the public to learn and experience anti-fraud knowledge in a secure environment.
“Legal technology products ultimately are judged by the market, and the public is the best judge,” many enterprise representatives expressed this view at the roadshow.
It’s reported that the newly established Xuhui District Legal Technology “Industry-Education-Research-Application” integrated ecosystem aims to create a model area for the innovative development and application scenarios of legal technology products by gathering local advantages, promoting green operation and sustainable development of the legal technology industry. The alliance’s initial members include the District Judicial Bureau, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Smart Judiciary Research Institute, District New Industry Office, Modo Space, Tencent Tianmei Studio, MiHoYo, China Unicom (Shanghai) Industrial Internet Co., Ltd., and District Legal Work Committee, focusing on activating legal domain data elements, expanding legal technology applications, enhancing innovation dynamics of the legal technology industry, and cultivating compound talents in legal technology.
