As an emerging product in the context of the metaverse, the digital collectibles industry brings together many new elements such as blockchain, representing the future industry of integrated innovation and application of new generation information technology.
However, it has been controversial all the way. Some people say it is electronic waste, a tax on intelligence, and even illegal elements use it for fraud, making the industry murky and causing frequent blame on the digital collectibles industry. Fortunately, many practitioners in the industry have been persisting, driving the continuous development of the industry.
In the just past June, the digital collectibles industry welcomed two notable events.
The first event is that on June 21st, the “Operational Service Requirements for Digital Collectibles Platforms” group standard was officially implemented! This group standard was jointly formulated by the head platform of digital collectibles, iBox, and institutions such as Beijing Jinguyuanjian Technology Group Co., Ltd. and the Communication University of China, aiming to standardize and guide the operation services of digital collectibles platforms, providing a comprehensive set of standards for platform operation.
The “Operational Service Requirements for Digital Collectibles Platforms” group standard stipulates the operation of digital collectibles platforms from aspects such as basic requirements, service content, basic guarantees, service evaluation and improvement. In the past few years, with the explosive growth of the digital collectibles industry, the rapid increase in the number of digital collectibles platforms has made the implementation of group standards necessary, and the implementation of this group standard will undoubtedly help to regulate the operation of platforms and promote the healthy development of the industry.
The other event is that on June 24th, the China Consumers Association invited 6 units to sign the “Self-discipline Convention for Compliance Operation of Digital Collectibles”. These units, including Ant Group, jointly promised to abide by business ethics, operate with integrity and compliance, resolutely resist illegal speculation, protect intellectual property rights, implement platform responsibilities, and guide buyers to make rational purchases.
In response, the market supervision department stated that the signing of this self-discipline convention is an important step in standardizing and legalizing the digital collectibles market, and is a key measure to protect consumer rights and promote the healthy development of the industry.
The signing of this self-discipline convention will not only help enhance the overall competitiveness of China’s digital collectibles industry, but also demonstrate China’s responsibility and commitment in the global development of the digital economy.
We know that in the pioneering stage of the industry, it is often disorderly, but it is undeniable that, despite the twists and turns, the future is bright.
Whether it is the group standard for digital collectibles led by iBox or the self-discipline convention participated by Ant Group (including the digital collectibles platform Whale Exploration), it shows that the leading platforms in the digital collectibles industry are working hard to lead the industry in a better direction. We also believe that through strengthening industry self-discipline and regulation, China is expected to achieve higher quality and sustainable development in the field of digital economy.
The relevant person in charge of iBox also stated that with everyone’s joint efforts, the industry will definitely develop in a more standardized direction, and in the future, iBox will continue to contribute to the development of the industry.
