Bijie.com reports:
Netflix has closed its AAA game studio, Netflix Games, in the United States. This closure has led to the departure of key employees who were previously involved in game development for titles such as “Halo,” “Overwatch,” and “God of War.” The closure of the studio is attributed by some to the media platform shifting its focus towards smaller games.
The streaming platform had previously ventured into the gaming world in an attempt to claim a share of the multi-billion-dollar industry. The media company entered the gaming industry in 2021 and has been dedicated to developing and expanding its intellectual properties to cater to its fan base. The expansion into gaming resulted in significant growth for the studio, recruiting talent from the gaming industry over the years to strengthen its team.
