CoinDesk Report:
Since its launch in March this year, a new encrypted game on the instant messaging platform Telegram has seen astonishing growth.
According to Pavel Durov, CEO of Telegram, Hamster Kombat has attracted 239 million registrations in the past three months, becoming the latest phenomenon on the internet.
Hamster Kombat is a game where users play as fictional CEOs of cryptocurrency exchanges, reflecting the dynamics of the real world. Players earn coins by clicking on digital hamsters and can strategically use these coins to upgrade their virtual startups.
Durov stated,
“Hamster reached 100 million monthly users in just 73 days. Every day, 4-5 million new users join Hamster Kombat, making it the world’s fastest-growing digital service.
As I mentioned a few months ago, a new wave of mini-applications on Telegram is coming, and Hamster Kombat is now leading the way. Its astonishing growth demonstrates the viral potential of the Telegram mini-application platform.”
Hamster Kombat also promises to launch tokens for the application on the first-layer protocol Toncoin (TON) this month, providing players with more value in participating in the game.
“Soon, Hamster’s team will mint tokens on TON, introducing the benefits of blockchain to hundreds of millions of people. A new era is coming, and we are witnessing it in real time.”
